We hear from Wisconsin violinist Clark Snavely, a student of Almita Vamos through the Music Institute of Chicago Academy. He’s joined by pianist Milana Pavchinskaya in Chopin, Chausson, and Corigliano.

Clark Snavely has appeared as soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago, SEEN Worldwide Orchestra, and Festival City Symphony. He has made solo orchestral appearances in an array of venues including the Royal Concertgebouw, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Parkzaal Musis Sacrum. Recently, he had the honor of playing for an estimated audience of 20,000 at the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s 40th anniversary Concerts on the Square celebration.

Recently, Clark was granted an award from the American Opera Society of Chicago. He won Second Prize in the International Young Artist Competition and Third Prize in the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition. As a chamber musician, Clark won Second Prize in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the Gold Medal and Haydn Prize at the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition, as well the First and Grand prizes in the A.N. and Pearl G. Barnett Chamber Music Competition.

Clark was a Merit Scholar Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, a training center for advanced pre-college students, where he studied with Almita Vamos and Davis King. He previously appeared on Introductions as a chamber musician, with the Pelios String Quartet in August 2023 and with the Seraphim Quartet at a Bach to School in-school even in November 2023.

Next fall, he will begin studying at the New England Conservatory with Miriam Fried.
